Get to know Tano
Tano is a true food connoisseur, passionate about Italy’s rich tapestry of micro-regional delicacies. Raised between Italy and the U.S., he is fully bilingual and bicultural, bringing a unique perspective to the world of Italian gastronomy. A self-proclaimed food nerd, Tano believes that to truly understand a place, one must eat like a local. His travels are guided by this philosophy, and he shares it with his guests, immersing them in the diverse culinary traditions that make Italy extraordinary.
A graduate of Georgetown University and Fordham University Law School, Tano’s passion for food led him to become an official cheese taster certified by Italy’s prestigious National Organization of Cheese Tasters. His expertise extends beyond cheese—he is well-versed in wine, artisanal products, and the time-honored traditions that define Italian cuisine. When he’s not guiding guests on immersive food experiences, he spends his time visiting small-scale producers, from beekeepers crafting rare honey to shepherds preserving ancient cheesemaking techniques.
Based in Orvieto, Tano leads private gastronomic journeys through Umbria, Tuscany, Lazio, Emilia-Romagna, Liguria, Trentino-Alto Adige, and Campania, sharing Italy’s culinary stories one bite at a time. His clients often say that exploring with Tano feels less like a tour and more like reconnecting with an old friend in the Italian countryside. With his deep knowledge of Italian food, art, and history—paired with his warm, engaging style—he ensures every guest leaves not just well-fed, but enriched, inspired, and carrying a piece of Italy’s culinary soul with them.
